Echo Pads

Four coloured pads each play their own note. The game plays a pattern, and you repeat it. Every correct round adds one more step to remember.

Press Start, then repeat the pattern.

How to play Echo Pads

Press Start. One pad lights up and plays a note. Tap the same pad. The game then replays the pattern with one extra step at the end, and you repeat the whole thing. The pattern keeps growing for as long as you get it right, and it speeds up a little each round.

In normal mode, a mistake makes the game replay the pattern so you can try again. In strict mode, a single mistake ends the game.

Memory tips

  • Listen as well as watch. Each pad has its own pitch, so the pattern becomes a short tune.
  • Chunk the sequence. Remember it in groups of three or four, like a phone number.
  • Name the colours. Saying "yellow, red, red, green" in your head helps hold longer patterns.

About this game

Pattern-repeating games were popular electronic toys in the late 1970s. Echo Pads is an original browser version. The notes are generated live with the Web Audio API, so nothing is downloaded.
