Arrow Out

The board is packed with bent arrows. Tap an arrow and it slides forward in the direction its head points. If the way is clear it leaves the board. If another arrow is in the way, it bumps and you lose a heart. Clear every arrow to finish the level.

How to play Arrow Out

Every arrow on the board has a body and a head. When you tap any part of an arrow, it moves forward in the direction of its head and its body follows along the same path. An arrow can only leave the board if every square in front of its head, all the way to the edge, is empty.

If another arrow sits anywhere on that line, your arrow slides up to it, bumps it and returns to where it started. Each bump costs one heart. Lose all your hearts and the level starts over. Remove every arrow to clear the level and unlock the next one.

Levels and scoring

LevelsBoardHearts
1 to 255 × 5 to 7 × 75
26 to 607 × 7 to 9 × 94
61 to 10010 × 10 to 11 × 113

You earn three stars for a level cleared with no bumps and no hints, two stars with one bump, and one star otherwise. Every level is built so that it can always be solved.

Tips

  • Start at the edges. Arrows near the border that point outward usually have a clear path. Removing them opens up the middle.
  • Follow the line, not the body. Only the squares in front of the head matter. An arrow with a long twisted body can still be free.
  • Look for arrows that block each other. If two arrows point at each other, neither can move until something else changes. Work on other parts of the board first.
  • Save hints for when you are stuck. A hint highlights one free arrow, but it costs you the three-star rating.

About this game

Arrow Out is an original Homivoo puzzle. The levels come from a generator that places each new arrow so that its exit is clear of the arrows placed before it. That guarantees every board has at least one solution while still creating chains of arrows that must leave in a particular order. The game is written in plain JavaScript with an HTML5 canvas and saves your unlocked levels and stars in your own browser.
